James is a company director, investor and former executive overseeing Private Equity in Australia (where he is based) and internationally. MySAS benefits from James’ hands on experience with business strategy setting, leadership and Government engagement.
James worked for Macquarie Group from 2007 to 2023. He served as CEO of the NYSE Macquarie Infrastructure Corporation (NYSE:MIC) from 2009 to 2017. MIC was a developer, owner and operator of infrastructure businesses across the US in the aviation, renewables, utility and energy sectors. During his tenure, the company’s market capitalisation grew from under A$100 million (~US$70 million) to over A$7 billion (~US$5 billion).
From 2018 to 2019, he served as the CEO of the A$5 billion (~US$3.5 bilion) Macquarie-managed toll road company, Atlas Arteria (ASX:ALX), which owns and operates toll roads in Europe and the US. SInce 2019 he has served as a director on a number of Macquarie related businesses.
Prior to joining Macquarie, he served in various positions with Fairfax Media Limited, Bain & Company and Phillips Fox Solicitors. He is currently a Board member of Mentem Pty Ltd, Longview, Taurus, the Dusseldorp Forum (a charitable foundation that supports increased educational and life opportunities for Australia’s young people) and the University of New South Wales Law School Advisory Council.
